My Little Pony Friendship is Magic Volume Two
74 Page Coloring and Activity Book
by Garrett Gilchrist
31.8 MB PDF

74 pages! A new, second jumbo coloring and activity book for fans of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic!

The first 19 pages are suitable for children. The rest contain 42 challenging nonogram puzzles and a few stupid jokes for grown-ups.

Page 14 is a season two spoiler, so don't print that one if you're unspoiled! (Don't print page 74 either, for that matter.)

The first, 84 page Pony coloring and activity storybook is here:

My first book told the story of the first episode of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, and had lots of puzzles and games including 20 pages of nonogram puzzles. Phoe at Equestria Daily called it "The single greatest coloring book ever!"

In celebration of season two of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, I thought I'd do a followup. It's not as big a production as the first book was - I didn't draw nearly as many ponies! But the main ponies are in here looking their very coolest, and you'll also see Spike, Zecora, Princess Luna, The Cutie Mark Crusaders, Discord, the balloon ponies, and even a few humans! There's Lauren Faust, Jayson Thiessen, Daniel Ingram and Sethisto!

For grownups, there's a few funny pages later on including a Sweet Bro and Hella Jeff parody, for you MSPaintAdventures fans!

The coloring pages were all traced or drawn over combinations of different screen grabs from the show to be as accurate as possible. (Luna was referenced from the official Hasbro coloring page, as she's had so little screen time.)

But obviously the main event here is 42 pages of nonogram puzzles featuring pretty much all of your favorite ponies (and non-ponies)! If you've never done a nonogram puzzle, don't worry, the book explains how to do them, and there are easier ones in the previous book.

These ones are a little harder. Most of the ones in the last book were 20x20. Nearly all of these are 40x40. There are three easier 30x30 ones and an extra-hard 50x50 one of Discord!

Myself, I like a harder puzzle. The 20x20 ones are too easy for me, and the 50x50 ones are almost too hard. So if you've already completed the easier puzzles in the other book and are looking for more of a challenge, or if you want to try a puzzle of your favorite pony, you've come to the right place!

Pretty much everyone's here! Of course there's Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, Rarity and Pinkie Pie, but there's also Apple Bloom, Big Macintosh, Bon Bon, Braeburn, Carrot Top, Princess Celestia, Cheerilee, Derpy Hooves, Discord, DJ P0N-3/Vinyl Scratch, Gilda Griffon, Gummy, Lyra, Octavia, Opalescence, Owlowliscious, Photo Finish, Scootaloo, Spike, Sweetie Belle, The Great and Powerful Trixie, Winona and Zecora!

You can even play my nonograms online at Griddlers.net!

So saddle up and join all your very best friends in Ponyville! And roll on season two!

I was wondering, are you gonna work on another one for the rest of season 2? It would be nice to color some Cadance and Chrysalis ^^

I've been meaning to release my recent art as a new large coloring book; it would be the same art you've seen in color in my gallery. I have no current plans for Chrysalis.

Hey, this is a bit late, but I only do the nonograms in start stop bursts. There seems to be some discrepancies in Scootaloo's puzzle and the solution for it. It might be there was a change and the solution image wasn't updated, or vice versa, but it seems like it wasn't brought up here, or an update made about it, so I thought I should let you know.

(If you want a quick way to check, compare the second to last Column to the solution image. The solution image doesn't have anything that matches with the 3/4/17 column in the puzzle)

That's not the second to last column. Both the last columns are 40. Did you print out the puzzle incompletely?

::slaps forward:: I meant the second to last column in the 2nd block of numbers of end. In my mind I knew what I meant but forgot the full reference. It would make it the 8th column from the end. It and the ninth column have a large number of boxes (16 in the ninth, 17 in the eighth) but the solution image doesn't look like there's a line of 17 blocks beside the 16.

The puzzle still works it just seems there's slight differences between it and the solution image, is all.

You're right. Looks like the solution image isn't accurate. Hm.

I was sad that it wasn't Film Reel. WHY?!?! T.T

I'm interested in making a nonogram book of my own, can you point me towards the software you used to make this? Like, to make it into a printable PDF.
Or did you just make the images in "Paint" By drawing the lines and then injected that into a pdf?
Hell I have no idea what I'm talking about. Please give your software :P

I used Griddlers.net to create and verify the various nonograms, editing images I'd originally made in Photoshop. I stopped once I had something solvable, although in the second book I should have kept going until they were easier.

For the second book I took screen grabs of the finished versions and then created PDFs of the puzzles using PuzzleHome's Griddlers Deluxe program.
[link]

In Photoshop I removed their grid, extracted the numbers, and attached them to a different grid I'd created.

I think I could have done everything in the Griddlers Deluxe program rather than the Griddlers.net website, but it's a Windows program and I'm on a Mac. I borrowed a housemate's laptop for a few hours to process the 45 or so puzzles for Book Two.

In the first book, I had to count the black spaces myself and type in the numbers into a Grid in Photoshop - it was extremely tedious and resulted in some errors in early versions of the book, although it did allow me to use the Celestia Medium font.

All the other puzzles in the first book were created using different websites. There's actually a lot of sites out there that you can use to create games and puzzles of all kinds, including crosswords, word searches, word scrambles, coded messages, mazes, etc. I've forgotten what specific sites I used, but a Google search will turn up a bunch.

I could have done all the same puzzles all over again for book two or three and I think people would have happily played them again, with whatever variations the programs came up with this time. But I didn't. I'm sort of interested in new ideas, if they're not too hard to create. I used to read and enjoy Games magazine many years ago ... a then-popular magazine of puzzles and brainteasers run by Will Shortz. They seemed to always have lots of unique puzzles. That's where I discovered nonograms, which they called Paint By Numbers.

I so wish I could print these two awesome books out. We've got coloring books in our work breakroom but they aren't nearly as awesome as these. I want to print them out and just leave them by the colors as a gift to everyone from the anonpony.

But the anonpony has no printer... (sad face)
