I draw Matt Smiths now. Matt Smiths are cool.

The process -
I sketch the faces in ballpoint pen. I rework them digitally to match my reference photos more exactly.

Based on that, I draw the final faces in Sharpie or pigment pen [or both] on xerox paper.

Hair and non-face parts are drawn with a mouse in Photoshop.

Coloring is done in Photoshop using the reference photo as a very rough starting point.

PS Here's the original ballpoint pen sketch, done quick by hand while looking at the photo. In some ways I prefer this to the more accurate-ified final!

No, I got lazy and used a photo texture for the collar/shirt, which I'd already painted over by mouse to get the skin and hair. The photo ended there. Sorry. If I ever I draw the shirt texture by hand, it would be in service of a more full-body treatment.
